3/4 C. evaporated milk or half and half
2 Tbsp. butter
1 C. light corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Soda
1 C. granulated sugar
Prepare a 9×13-inch baking ban with cooking spray or line with wax paper. Combine sugar, corn syrup, half and half or evaporated milk and butter in a medium saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly to 250° F. (very firm ball), or when a small amount of the mixture dropped in cold water will form a firm but not brittle ball.
Remove from heat. Add vanilla and baking soda, stirring only enough to blend. Pour to a depth of 3/4-inch in the baking pan. Cool; turn out of pan and cut into 3/4-inch squares. Wrap individually in wax paper or cellophane.
