The basic and easy to follow Clabber Girl biscuit recipe is made so much better with the addition of Applewood Smoked Bacon.

Ingredients

1 tbsp Davis Baking Powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
4 slices Applewood-Smoked Bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 cups all-purpose flour

Directions

Preheat oven to 425° F. In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter (shortening) with pastry blender or 2 forks until mixture resembles coarse crumble. Add milk and bacon, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly (about 4 times). Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness, cut biscuits with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake biscuits in a pre-heated 425° F. oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
