1 c. shortening
1/2 c. nuts
1 c. brown sugar
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. Rumford Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 c. semi sweet chocolate chips, melted
Preheat oven to 375° F. and grease baking sheets. Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Sift flour, Rumford Baking Powder and salt together and add alternately with milk to first mixture. Add vanilla and blend well. Fold in chocolate and nuts and stir until well mixed. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheet, flatten slightly with spatula and bake in moderate oven (375° F.) 15-20 minutes. Makes 4 dozen cookies.
