7 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup shortening
4 tsp Clabber Girl Baking Powder
1 tbsp salt
2 cups hot water
In a large bowl, combine ingredients except water. You may need to cut shortening in with pastry blender. Add hot water gradually and mix dough thoroughly. On a floured surface, knead dough until smooth. Form dough into a ball and turn mixing bowl upside down over top of dough; let set for 15 minutes. Pinch off pieces of dough and make round patties with your hands about 2 1/2 inches wide, and 1/4 inch thick. On a floured surface, roll patties with rolling pin until they are about 1/8 inch thick.Cook on hot griddle and flip tortilla over until both sides are golden brown. Store any unused tortillas in a tightly sealed container.
