Spread:
Softened butter
Pie Crust:
1/4 C. brown sugar
1 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
pinch of ground cloves
1/4 tsp. Kosher salt
10 Tbsp. butter, cold and cut into bits
3-4 Tbsp. ice water, as needed
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Pie Crust:
Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse bread crumbs with some pea-size pieces of butter. Gradually add water to mixture until dough starts to clump together. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into 1 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch squares.
Spread:
Using a pastry brush, spread each square with a generous amount of softened butter. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon and cloves. Sprinkle sugar mixture of pie crust. Using the pastry brush, spread more butter over the top of sugar mixture. Fold 2 opposite corners of pie crust square into the center and press. Place on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and bake at 350° F. for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
