Garlic Cheddar Biscuits

These baking powder biscuits add garlic and cheddar for a great taste! Perfect to use in place of regular biscuits of dinner rolls.

Ingredients

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp Clabber Girl Baking Powder
3/4 tsp garlic powder, divided
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup shortening
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tbsp butter, melted

Directions

Preheat oven to 425° F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then set aside.

Combine flour, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder and salt. Using a pastry blender or 2 forks cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly.

With a fork, add buttermilk and cheese and stir until mixture forms a soft dough.

Drop dough by 1/4-cupfuls onto baking sheet. Combine melted butter and remaining 1/4 tsp. garlic powder; brush on biscuit tops. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
