Cream Cheese Frosting

This is the classic and most basic recipe for cream cheese frosting. The frosting is perfect for red velvet, carrot, gingerbread and other cakes and cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 16 oz.  powdered sugar
  • milk, as needed

Directions

  1. Combine cream cheese, butter, and vanilla in a mixing bowl.
  2. Beat until well blended and smooth.
  3. Gradually add powdered sugar while beating.
  4. If needed, add a tablespoon of milk at a time to reach desired consistency.
