Preheat oven to 375 F. Pudding: Generously grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with margarine or butter. In the pan, arrange 4 cups sliced apples and 1/2 cup raisins; set aside. In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup walnuts, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and dash of salt; sprinkle over apple-raisin mixture. Dot with margarine or butter; sprinkle 1 tbsp lemon juice over mixture; set aside. Batter: In a bowl, beat together 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk and 2 tbsp melted butter. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, dash of salt and1 tbsp baking powder; mix well. Pour over apple-raisin mixture. Sprinkle with 1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Bake at 375 F for 30 minutes.
