3 tsp. Rumford Baking Powder
3 C. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 C. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 C. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 well beaten eggs
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 C. milk
1/2 C. molasses
3/4 C. finely chopped raisins, optional
1. Cream shortening, add the sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy.
2. Add eggs, then the milk and molasses and raisins.
3. Sift flour, Rumford Baking Powder, salt and spices and add to creamed mixture, beating until smooth.
4. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheet 1 inch apart and bake in moderate oven (350° F) 10-12 minutes.
Makes 4 dozen cookies.
