Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! If there’s one all-American treat that everyone can, and should, master it’s the basic chocolate chip cookie.  Aside from the fact that they are way better than the packaged alternative, nothing will give you instant baker credibility like homemade cookies.     How can I test Baking powder to see if it is still good?

    • Margaret, the first thing to look for is an expiration date on your baking powder can. After that, look to make sure there are no clumps in the powder. It should still stir up fluffy and smooth. You can also place a teaspoon of the baking powder in a cup of lukewarm water to see a vigorous fizzing action.
