Something is non-consistent with these instructions. Says 12 cups, i.e., 12 cupcakes. And 2 Tsp of butter in each cup – that is 24 Tsp, and at 3 Tsp in a Tbsp, that is 8 Tbsp of butter – but the list of ingredients calls for 4 Tbsp of unsalted butter. A problem somewhere.
Without calculating, I assume that the 24 Tsp sugar is there in the required 1/2 Cup.

OOps, yes–my notes say 1/2 cup butter (8 tablespoons) which is 2 teaspoons per cup. I accidentally edited that into 1/2 stick butter which is 4 tablespoons. So sorry!
The sugar is correct–1/2 cup = 2 teaspoons per 12 cup muffin pan.
